Accessibility specialist, author, and auditor with over 20 years of experience in inclusive web development. I work with public sector organizations, universities, and companies to embed accessibility into real-world processes—from strategy to implementation. As a speaker, I share practical insights from projects, focusing on how accessibility can become a natural part of building digital products.
Extended Bio
I have been working in accessibility since before web accessibility became a formal requirement in 2002. At that time, the role of a “web accessibility specialist” didn’t even have a name, and websites were often hand-crafted, combining HTML, CSS, and custom PHP scripts.
One thing, however, has not changed: accessibility happens at the intersection of humans and technology. It starts with well-structured HTML and thoughtful use of CSS—two core technologies that remain the foundation of accessible web design and my main area of expertise.
I have authored three books on HTML, CSS, and accessibility, published by Herdt Verlag. These form the basis of my teaching, which I have been delivering for over a decade. I also served as a technical reviewer for Accessibility for Dummies (2026).
In short, I combine theory and practice as a trainer, author, and developer.
As a keynote speaker, I have been presenting regularly at European conferences in both German and English since 2019.
